CCBH Shaded Spruce - Week 42

Hi everyone! It’s good to be back for the Colour Creations blog hop this week as I seemed to have missed the last few…as they say life just got too busy!

This weeks colour is Shaded Spruce from the Regals colour family and a deep green. I don’t use this green often apart from Christmas cards so it’s nice to be challenged.

The stamp set I have used is Dahlia Days from Stampin’ Up! January-June 2022 mini catalogue. I started by stamping the Dahlia flowers in Polished Pink ink and leaves in Shaded Spruce ink and then die cut from the Dahlia Days bundle.

The two triangle panels were cut diagonally from top corner to bottom corner of DSP and Shaded Spruce card stock. I coloured the All Together DSP using L&D Shaded Spruce and L&D Mint Macaron and dry embossed the card stock panel with Stitched Greenery EF.

The front of the Basic White card base was embossed using Timeworn Type EF. The sentiment is from the Dahlia Days set too and stamped with Shaded Spruce ink. I have double mounted the sentiment onto matching card stock.

The sentiment inside the card is from the Celebrating You stamp set, also from the mini catalogue and stamped with Polished Pink ink. I love this font and suits the occasion for Mother’s Day which is coming up in May.

Hope you enjoy the remaining blog hop where you can find more inspiration from the next participant the very talented, Christine Blain.

If you find a broken link or have come to this blog hop from a different entry point, you can view the full list of participants on Cathy Proctor’s blog.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week ahead everyone!

CCBH Pumpkin Pie - Week 38

Hi and welcome to March! Wow, the third month of the year and Week 38 for the Colour Creations challenge and tonight it is Pumpkin Pie. I find sometimes an orange colour can be quite strong and too bright but paired with the colours in more of this gorgeous Flowering Fields DSP it results in a cheerful card.

I’m loving these fancy fold cards and instructions that the teams own Di Furniss puts together. This one is a Shadow Box fancy fold card. The instructions can be found in this YouTube video. Card size is 5 inch x 5 inch (or 12.1cm x 12.1cm).

I won’t repeat the card instructions here but the products used are:

  • Base layer: Pumpkin Pie card stock
  • Mat layer: BumbleBee card stock
  • DSP layer: Flowering Fields
  • Layering Circles die set

I played around with the Catching Butterflies stamp set that you can receive for FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-a-bration. This will end soon on 16 March. So get in quick!

I stamped the little girl with Memento Black ink twice, once on Basic White card stock and again on DSP. The latter I fussy cut only the girls dress and glued to the dress on the Basic White stamped image. This technique is called paper piecing.

Before adhering the printed dress I coloured the skin and hair with Stampin’ Blends using Petal Pink for skin and mixture of Light Crumb Cake, Bronze and Dark So Saffron in her hair. I added Light Smoky Slate to the butterfly net. The image was fussy cut and adhered to the front of the card with dimensionals.

After stamping the butterflies they were also coloured using Dark Pumpkin Pie and Mango Melody blends. The image was die cut using Layering Circles die set mounted on a scalloped circle and adhered to the back layer. The background was coloured with Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend and I also added some Brass Gold butterflies to finish off.

I stamped and coloured more butterflies to the back of the card with a sentiment from the same stamp set in Pumpkin Pie ink.

The card from above.

Hope you enjoy the remaining blog hop where you can find more inspiration from the next participant and tonight’s hostess, the very talented, Cathy Proctor. She will also have the complete list of participants and links to their fabulous creations using Pumpkin Pie.

Have a good week everyone and that enjoy some crafting time 😊
