Hello fellow crafters! Welcome to the Colour Creations blog hop where team members of the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! demonstrators showcase a new colour every Wednesday.
This weeks colour is Balmy Blue and is part of the Subtles colour family. Another blue following last week that is a softer blue than the brighter Azure Afternoon.
I have created two cards this week and one of those is a fancy fold that I thought would be a perfect design to showcase the Lily Pond Lane DSP.
In this DSP there are lovely ducks and pond images but it was the cute frog that inspired me to go with the Center panel 3D fancy fold design. This fancy fold was something I had wanted to try for awhile and had mostly seen the ‘vertical’ version so I decided to flip it and do the ‘horizontal’ version.
Hopefully my measurements make sense! The card base folded in half is the standard 10.5cm x 14.8cm.
Center panel is 9.8cm where the smaller side panels of 2.5cm have been removed. This has been scored in half at 5.25cm to create a bifold.
- 3D Side pillar (x2 pieces) - 10.5cm x 2.5cm, scored on the long side at 2.5cm, 5cm, 7.5cm and 10cm. Fold to create the rectangle pillar.
- Center panel card stock base - 9.5cm width x 10.2cm height Basic White card stock.
- Center panel DSP - 9.2cm width x 9.9cm height.
The card side on.
The card can lay flat and fit into a standard envelope. I love how this card turned out and I may add another writing panel at the back with a birthday greeting.
My second card showcases the Magnolia Mood die set (it also has a matching stamp set which I did not use today).
To begin with I dry embossed a Balmy Blue mat using the Cane Weave 3D embossing folder. The Magnolia flowers and leaves were die cut using the Magnolia Mood die set and the flowers coloured with Balmy Blue ink and a blending brush. The pieces were arranged and adhered with dimensionals to the embossed mat. This was adhered to the Basic White mat and Balmy Blue card base.
The sentiment from the Thoughtful Wishes stamp set is stamped with VersaMark onto Basic Beige card stock and heat embossed with Silver embossing powder. A Silver Trim double bow was adhered with a glue dot and silver Adhesive backed Sparkle gems and some more blue-ish Blooming Pearls to embellish the card.
Hope you enjoy the remaining blog hop where you can find more Balmy Blue inspiration from the very talented Vicki Boucher.
Two very different cards, that showcase Balmy Blue beautifully! Your first card is super-cute (and clever), Rosa. I love the little sentiment squares, and the fussy-cut duck used as a "stopper". Your second card is a real "wow". Super-elegant. I love the blending of Balmy Blue ink on the magnolia die-cut, the gorgeous embossed background, and the delightful sparkles.
ReplyDeleteRosa, I love how different your two cards are and yet they both perfectly showcase this gorgeous blue. Your fancy fold is so cute and the magnolia card so elegant and feminine.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fantastic fancy fold card Rosa, I've never seen this one before. I also love your shaded magnolia card.
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely yet different cards Rosa and such great ways to feature Balmy Blue. The first one is super cute but my favourite is definitely the beautiful soft magnolia card.
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing cards to showcase Balmy Blue in different ways, Rosa. Love your fancy fold with the Lilypond Lane DSP and the Magnolia card is lovely with the softness of the ink blending and great use of the Caneweave TIEF.
ReplyDeleteWow, you've been busy! Great cards.
