Colour Creations Balmy Blue - Week 8

Hello fellow crafters! Welcome to the Colour Creations blog hop where team members of the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! demonstrators showcase a new colour every Wednesday.

This weeks colour is Balmy Blue and is part of the Subtles colour family. Another blue following last week that is a softer blue than the brighter Azure Afternoon.

I have created two cards this week and one of those is a fancy fold that I thought would be a perfect design to showcase the Lily Pond Lane DSP.

In this DSP there are lovely ducks and pond images but it was the cute frog that inspired me to go with the Center panel 3D fancy fold design. This fancy fold was something I had wanted to try for awhile and had mostly seen the ‘vertical’ version so I decided to flip it and do the ‘horizontal’ version.

Hopefully my measurements make sense! The card base folded in half is the standard 10.5cm x 14.8cm.

Center panel is 9.8cm where the smaller side panels of 2.5cm have been removed. This has been scored in half at 5.25cm to create a bifold.

  • 3D Side pillar (x2 pieces) - 10.5cm x 2.5cm, scored on the long side at 2.5cm, 5cm, 7.5cm and 10cm. Fold to create the rectangle pillar.
  • Center panel card stock base - 9.5cm width x 10.2cm height Basic White card stock.
  • Center panel DSP - 9.2cm width x 9.9cm height.

The sentiment is stamped using Balmy Blue ink onto Basic White card stock and is from the Country Birdhouse stamp set. The sentiment was then die cut using Stylish Shapes square die and adhered to Pretty in Pink Assorted DSP layer die cut with the next larger square die.

I fussy cut the cute duck from the same DSP and adhered to the sentiment panel. To finish the card I adhered some blue-ish Blooming Pearls.

The card side on.

The card can lay flat and fit into a standard envelope. I love how this card turned out and I may add another writing panel at the back with a birthday greeting.

My second card showcases the Magnolia Mood die set (it also has a matching stamp set which I did not use today).

To begin with I dry embossed a Balmy Blue mat using the Cane Weave 3D embossing folder. The Magnolia flowers and leaves were die cut using the Magnolia Mood die set and the flowers coloured with Balmy Blue ink and a blending brush. The pieces were arranged and adhered with dimensionals to the embossed mat. This was adhered to the Basic White mat and Balmy Blue card base.

The sentiment from the Thoughtful Wishes stamp set is stamped with VersaMark onto Basic Beige card stock and heat embossed with Silver embossing powder. A Silver Trim double bow was adhered with a glue dot and silver Adhesive backed Sparkle gems and some more blue-ish Blooming Pearls to embellish the card.

Colour Creations Azure Afternoon - Week 7

Hello fellow crafters! Welcome to the Colour Creations blog hop where team members of the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! demonstrators showcase a new colour every Wednesday.

This weeks colour is Azure Afternoon and is part of the Brights colour family. It is a gorgeous bright blue that reminds me of a vibrant blue summer sky. My two cards tonight are inspired by the colours in the Bright and Beautiful DSP.

My husband’s birthday is coming up next week and I thought that Azure Afternoon is perfect for a masculine card. My first card is a fancy fold that I CASEd from the Stampin’ Up! demonstrator Susan Campfield. It is called a ‘Double Flap Trifold’ and Susan has instructions on how to create this fancy fold.

I have used the Beautiful Balloons stamp set to stamp the front panel with the large balloon, party streamers and sentiment using Azure Afternoon, Lemon Lime Twist and Night of Navy inks. This was adhered to the Azure Afternoon mat.

The smaller side panels and card inner are decorated with Bright and Beautiful DSP adhered to Azure Afternoon mats.

To the inner flap I have adhered a ‘pocket’ to hold an additional sentiment tag. The die to cut the tag is from the Beautiful Balloons die set and the ‘pocket’ from the new die set Pocket Thoughts in the Annual catalogue. I tied some  Linen thread to the end of the tag so it can be easily pulled out from the pocket!

Some white Neutrals adhesive backed sequins were coloured with Dark Azure Afternoon Stampin’ Blends pen and adhered to the front panel. Even coloured they still give a lovely sparkle in the light,

A view from the side showing the flaps,

My second card is much simpler! Using the same stamp set as my first card I stamped most of the balloons onto the Basic White mat using Azure Afternoon, Lemon Lime Twist and Night of Navy inks. Two other balloons were die cut from card stock and adhered with dimensionals. The panel was adhered to the Night of Navy card stock base.

I really love the sentiment font from the Magnolia Mood stamp set and stamped with Azure Afternoon ink. The roundish die cut balloon was die cut a second time using the confetti die and the tiny stars were adhered with glue to embellish the card.

Hope you enjoy the remaining blog hop where you can find more Azure Afternoon inspiration from the very talented Tina Gillespie.

Colour Creations Basic Beige - Week 6

Hello fellow crafters! Welcome to the Colour Creations blog hop where team members of the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! demonstrators showcase a new colour every Wednesday.

Tonight’s colour is the very new Basic Beige that is part of the Neutrals colour family. Being a neutral colour it could be paired with numerous other colours. The colour I chose is Garden Green with Basic Black accents.

My card design focuses on the Rest Relax Enjoy stamp set.

The dry embossed Basic Beige panel was embossed using the So Swirly EF. The sentiment was heat embossed with White embossing powder and die cut using Nested Essentials die set.

The greenery behind the bottle dispenser has been die cut using the Thoughtful Wishes die set and from Garden Green card stock. I have adhered some black Adhesive backed Sparkle Gems. These have a gorgeous sparkle to them and also come in Champagne and white.

Hope you enjoy the remaining blog hop where you can find more Basic Beige inspiration from the very talented Ros Davidson.
