CCBH Poppy Parade - Week 37

Hello fellow stampers! Hope everyone is doing well and getting some craft time wherever you may be. This week’s colour for the Colour Creations blog hop is Poppy Parade. I love this red as it is a softer red than Real Red and can coordinate with a range of Stampin’ Up colours. We’re into Week 37 for this colour challenge!

This week I have gone a little bit out of my comfort zone by creating 1. a masculine card and 2. a sporty card! I have none or very few  of these in my card stash. And it’s also a basic fancy fold!

The card uses the Hey Sports Fan DSP on Poppy Parade card base. This DSP from the new mini catalogue is all about baseball which is not as big here in Australia due to other more popular sporting codes such as Aussie Rules football and cricket.

As I don’t have either the matching stamp set or die set in this bundle I just used the DSP received through a paper share recently. The stamp set does have some great masculine sentiments including one for Father’s Day.

The card recipe is as follows:

Card base (front):
  • Poppy Parade card base: 10.5cm x 15cm
  • Night of Navy mat: 10cm x 11 cm
  • DSP front layer: 9.5cm x 10.5cm
Card base (back):
  • Very Vanilla mat (back): 9.5cm x 14cm
  • Various card stock and DSP to decorate the back
Rectangle Box
  • Poppy Parade card base: 10.5cm x 15cm. Scored on the long side at 3.5cm, 7cm, 10.5cm and 14cm
  • 3 panels of Very Vanilla card stock: 10cm x 3cm
  • 3 panels DSP: 9.5cm x 2.5cm
I started with putting together the front of the card base and adhering all the layers. Next I adhered the Very Vanilla mat and stamped my greeting from the stamp set in Poppy Parade ink. Finally added some more DSP at the bottom of the card.

The rectangle box was put together next and each panel was added to three of the sides. The side adhered to the main card base was left plain.

Decorating the front was fun. I adhered the fussy cut flags, stars, baseball bats and ball to the different panels. Lastly I added a piece of Fan Bakers Twine in Poppy Parade / White to the blue flag.

The card will fold flat to fit inside an envelope.

CCBH Pool Party - Week 36

Hi everyone and welcome to Week 36 of the Colour Creations blog hop showcasing the Stampin’ Up! colours. This week the spotlight  is on Pool Party - a light fun blue colour which can be paired with most colours in the different colour families.

The main product I have used tonight is a FREE item from the Sale-a-bration catalogue that you can receive with a qualifying  purchase. It is the Friendly Hello bundle that includes a stamp set and matching DSP.

Another new product is the All Together Now DSP. Each double sided paper has different black and white patterns. I have adhered the DSP layer to the Basic Black card base.

Then using the Friendly Hello DSP with Pool Party I adhered it to a square Basic Black mat. I have added some Black Matt dots to the flower centres and some bows tied with Black and White Gingham ribbon coloured with Dark Pool Party Stampin’ blend.

The sentiment on the front card is from the Friendly Hello stamp set and I’ve stamped with Memento Black ink onto Pool Party card stock. I have fussy cut the sentiment before adhering to some Basic Black card stock and fussy cut again to create a shadow effect.

The inside of my card has a Friendly Hello DSP base layered with a Basic White panel that has been stamped with flowers from the Friendly Hello stamp set in Pool Party ink. The sentiment from the same stamp set is stamped with Memento Black onto Pool Party card stock. I have die cut the sentiment using Tasteful Labels die set.

Valentine’s Day card with Abstract Beauty

Hi everyone! Just popping in to say a Happy Valentines Day to all with a card ❤️. It’s a fairly easily put together type of card as I have used Stampin’ Up! Abstract Beauty cards & envelopes. This includes the card base already printed with a water-coloured design in several colours and a matching envelope. So half the work is done for you and all you need to do is embellish to make it your own. And I knew I wanted to make a modern Valentines card to give to my teenage daughter with this set.

I have die cut two hearts using the Bouquet of Love hybrid embossing folder and dies. One heart is die cut from Basic White card stock and the other from Abstract Beauty DSP. They were adhered together with adhesive tear tape to add thickness. I just love the shiny gold flecks and splodges on this DSP.

I have adhered some gold Simply Elegant trim and Gold Shimmer ribbon to the back of the heart and then adhered with dimensionals to the card.

The last bits are added such as stamped hearts in VersaMark and heat embossed with Gold embossing powder from the Lucky You stamp set. The cute sentiment, also embossed with gold embossing powder, is from the Sale-a-bration stamp set, Catching Butterflies. You can receive this set FREE with a qualifying order. And that’s my card for tonight!

Hope you enjoyed your day and had someone special spoil you! I was lucky this year to receive some red roses from my husband. We try not to go overboard for Valentines as we celebrate our wedding anniversary the week before and I chose 7th February hoping that date would be easy to remember being a week before Valentines Day! Usually works 😂

Also managed to make some heart biscuits decorated with buttercream and sprinkles…one for the sweet tooth!

CCBH Petal Pink - Week 35

Hello everyone! Welcome to this weeks Colour Creations challenge using Petal Pink in the team’s card designs. It is part of the SU Subtles colour family and a pale pink that is more on the orange side.

This week I have used the Flowering Fields DSP again and I just loved the colour combo in this layer: Petal Pink (of course!), Poppy Parade and Pool Party.

The DSP panel has been adhered to the Petal Pink card base. In addition, I have die cut a ‘frame’ using two Stitched Rectangles dies held together with some Washi tape to keep in place when using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine. The frame is adhered with Foam adhesive strips.

The tulip flower pieces were die cut from Petal Pink and Poppy Parade card stock and the leaves and stems from Pear Pizzazz card stock; the latter sponged with Garden Green ink to match that found in the DSP.

I have used a sentiment from the Celebrating You stamp set, stamped with Poppy Parade ink onto Petal Pink card stock. This set has many handy sentiments for various occasions.

For the inside of the card I have used the ‘cloud’ border from Basic Borders and die cut from the reverse of the DSP used on the card front. The sentiment is also from the same stamp set as the previous sentiment and I have die cut it using the larger label die in the Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing folder and die set.

The final touch was to add some cute Brushed Brass butterflies to the sentiment layer.

CCBH Pear Pizzazz - Week 34

Hello fellow stampers! Welcome back to another Colour Creations challenge where  Pear Pizzazz is this weeks focus colour. A much softer green than the recently showcased Old Olive or Mossy Meadow.

Tonight I am using some more new products from the Stampin’ Up! January to June mini catalogue. The Flowering Tulips stamp and die bundle and matching Flowering Fields DSP. The DSP includes Pear Pizzazz and some beautiful painted tulips and patterns.

I made this tri-fold card with the intent to include a gift card ‘pocket’ for the recipient but did not get to finish for tonight’s blog hop. When I complete the card I will update this post to include the picture.

The front panel was partially die cut with a circle die from Layering Circles die set and then dry embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder to add some texture.

The Tulips have been put together using blended card stock and DSP that was die cut using the Tulips Dies. I wanted a softer natural look rather than using straight card stock. There are several YouTube videos that demonstrate ways of putting together the tulip die cut pieces. I followed the video by US demonstrator Card designs by Tammy but there are many others to guide you.

I used So Saffron and Mango Melody inks to blend Basic White card stock and then die cut the various tulip pieces before adhering together with Liquid adhesive or dimensionals to build my flower.

The sentiment is stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with White embossing powder onto Pear Pizzazz card stock. The sentiment was die cut using the smallest scalloped die from Scalloped Contours die set before adhering with dimensionals to the card.

On the second panel I adhered a DSP layer showing a field of multi-coloured tulips - so pretty and who doesn’t like a field of Tulips? They are one of my favourite flowers because of the variety of colours they come in. The sentiment from the set was heat embossed with white embossing powder as before.

The inside sentiment can be seen here through the circle cutout and the open standing card.

To finish off my card I adhered a bow tied with
Evening Evergreen Windowpane Checked ribbon. I love the look of this ribbon and it coordinates very nicely with the Tulip products.
And lastly some gorgeous Brushed Brass Butterflies that glisten as if the sun is shining on them!
